I normally provide prospective clients with a free sample edit of at least 1,000 words. This gives us an idea of the level of intervention required/desired; tells me how long the project is likely to take and therefore how much to quote; and, most importantly, allows the client to decide if I am a good fit as his or her editor!
As a lawyer and published author I am accustomed to meeting deadlines and following a brief, and aim to provide clients with a fast, friendly turnaround at reasonable rates.
If my diary is full and I cannot take on a particular job, I am happy to find a qualified, competent professional who is available.
